Nurturing mountain youth to lead with compassion, serve with kindness, and inspire through action.
MTN HANDS is a mountain initiative founded by the Lake Arrowhead Community Presbyterian Church Youth Program , dedicated to empowering youth through service and outreach. Our mission is to unite the children and teens of the mountain community in acts of kindness, support, and fellowship, helping those in need while fostering a spirit of compassion and leadership. MTN HANDS is a collaborative effort, welcoming the involvement of all local schools, churches and community members to work together for the greater good of our mountain home.
Inspire Through Action
-
Teach it.
This initiative pairs compassionate youth tutors with special education and special needs students, fostering a unique learning environment built on understanding and patience. Through this program, we not only support academic growth but also cultivate empathy and inclusivity among our young volunteers. This peer-to-peer connection bridges gaps, builds confidence, and creates lasting bonds that extend far beyond the classroom, enriching our entire mountain community.
-
Share it.
We connect our compassionate youth with senior citizens and individuals in palliative care, creating meaningful intergenerational bonds. Through regular visits, assistance with daily tasks, and companionship activities, our young volunteers bring joy, comfort, and support to those in their golden years or facing health challenges. This initiative not only provides valuable aid to our elderly community members but also teaches our youth the importance of empathy, respect, and the profound impact of small acts of kindness in enriching lives.
-
Grow it.
Our "Forest Renewal" project mobilizes youth to actively restore our fire-ravaged mountain ecosystem. Working alongside forestry experts, young volunteers learn about native species, soil health, and sustainable reforestation techniques as they plant new trees and nurture seedlings. This hands-on initiative not only helps heal our local environment but also instills a deep sense of environmental stewardship in our youth, empowering them to become passionate advocates for nature conservation and climate resilience.
